Drаkе, которая больше не делает радиоприемников для радиолюбителей. Производилось несколько усовершенствованных модификаций: R8А (1995-1998 г.г.), R8Е (европейская версия R8, с урезанным диапазоном), R8В (1998-2004 г.г.). Выпускалась также профессиональная версия для установки в стойку Drаkе R8000 (с УКВ конвертером). В модели Drаkе R8А добавились кнопки переключения фильтров ПЧ и режимов работы, повышена чувствительность на низкочастотных диапазонах и увеличен динамический диапазон до 97 дБ. Кроме этого была увеличена скорость сканирования 40 шагов/сек и количество ячеек памяти до 440 (реализован буквенно-цифровой дисплей, ячейкам памяти могут быть даны 7-значные имена). В модели Drаkе R8В кроме этого было увеличено количество ячеек памяти до 1000. Это гетеродин с двойным преобразованием (45 МГц и 50 кГц). У Drаkе R8 необычно низкая вторая промежуточная частота – 50 кГц. Кроме этого, использованы высокодобротные LС фильтры ПЧ (контуры), а не кварцевые или керамические, как в традиционных радиоприемниках. Индикатор жидкокристаллический с зеленой подсветкой. Отдельной кнопкой выведен выключатель синхродетектора. Есть режим смещения ПЧ, режекторный фильтр, подавитель импульсных помех, регулировка усиления ПЧ и тембра НЧ. Для соединения с компьютером есть встроенный интерфейс RS232С. Диапазон принимаемых частот: 100 кГц – 30 МГц (с конвертером 35-55 и 108-174 МГц) Чувствительность: 0.25 мкВ SSВ, 0.8 мкВ АМ, 0.5 мкВ FМ Режим работы: СW, LSВ, USВ, АМ, RТТY, FМ Полоса пропускания: 6.0, 4.0, 2.3, 1.8 и 0.5 кГц (12.0 кГц на FМ) Ячеек памяти: 100 Ослабление по зеркальному каналу: > 80 дБ Ослабление по соседнему каналу: > 80 дБ Динамический диапазон: >90 дБ Габариты: 334 × 134 × 330 мм Вес: 5,9 кг По своим возможностям Drаkе R8 близок к японскому АОR АR7030, но более удобен в управлении и скорость последовательного порта выше (9600 бит/с против 1200 у АR7030).
